Geography: Welcome to the land of the countries of China, North Korea, South Korea, Vietnam, Japan, India, and Indonesia and the physical features:
Ganges River, Huang He (Yellow River), Indus River, Mekong River, Yangtze (Chang Jiang) River, Bay of Bengal, Indian Ocean, Sea of Japan, South China Sea, Yellow Sea, Gobi Desert , Taklimakan Desert, Himalayan Mountains, and Korean Peninsula. Pollution: Pollution has taken over the Yangtze and Ganges Rivers very tragically. Yangtze River Pollution Cause: -Millions of gallons of sewage, industrial waste, agricultural waste, and much more. -Nitrogen from fertilizers and arsenic from industrial waste are the leading pollutants. Effect: -Species of animals and plants are dying off. -Contaminated fish are caught and sold. -High levels of nitrogen and phosphates leading to growth of blue algae, which leads to less oxygen in the water and fish die. Ganges River: Cause- -Cremated remains of human bodies that were cremated for religious ceremonies float in river -Human and animal waste fills the river -Chemicals used in fertilizers and industry washed into river Effect- -Cities along Ganges are one of the highest to get water-borne diseases. -The diseases include cholera, dysentery, typhoid, and hepatitis. Air Pollution and Flooding in China and India: Air Pollution: Causes- -Burning of biomass fuels -Burning of coal -Exhaust from cars Effect- -Respiratory problems -Acid rain -Water contaminated from the acid rain. -Buildings eroded from acid rain. Flooding: -Monsoons. -Deforestation. -Overgrazing Impacts: The impact location and climate has on population distribution is very big. If a place is too cold, or too hot, people won't usually choose to live there. Most people choose to live around is near rivers, the four being the Indus River, the Huang He (Yellow) River, the Ganges River, and the Yangtzes River, since the water can be used for supplies, easy access for travel and even for fishing as a job. Places around rivers tend to have fertile soil, which gives more opportunities for trade and jobs. Most people don't choose to live near the Himalayas because of the harsh, cold climate and slanted land makes inhabitants' life harder. People who do live their tend to be sherpas. They can't drive to trade because the mountain is very rocky. Most people don't choose to live in the Gobi desert because of the dry, hot climate and low water supply. The people that do may choose to be an animal herder, because their isn't much fertile soil of water supply. Religions: Religion is very important in Southeast Asian countries.
